About Alistair and his work:

Alistair Hawkins was born in Rochdale, Lancashire in 1957.
He was a practising
Chartered Architect and now lives in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire with his wife
Maureen (a Stamford Handmade member of Teddytums fame) and  their Cairn
Terriers Rory & Kirsty.

Alistair obtained ‘O’ and ‘A’ level qualifications in Art at school but has only recently (from around 2007) started to rekindle his interest in Art by producing painting and drawings.   He uses a variety of media in his artwork, although mainly paints with water-mixable oils, acrylics and watercolours. Pictures range from landscapes, seascapes and atmospheric railway subjects to figurative work and portraits.    He also uses computer manipulation prior to painting on many subjects to create some semi-abstract effects.   The use of impasto oils and acrylics mixed with structure medium is also one of Alistair's more recently favoured techniques.

In describing his works Alistair says “I strive in my paintings to capture the atmosphere and spirit of the subject and enjoy a specific interest in depicting railway scenes, landscapes and seascapes”.

Alistair has previously exhibited his work at the Yarrow Gallery in Oundle, at Peterborough Cathedral and also for the Peterborough Artists Open Studios Event at Peterborough City College.   A print of one of his railway paintings was put on display by East Coast Trains in the new waiting area at Peterborough Railway Station.   Alistair also has a web-site  alistairhawkins.co.uk  where you can view most of his work and also purchase an original painting or framed or unframed prints.

Commissions are also welcomed by Alistair for drawings and paintings and most subjects can be undertaken, usually from photographs.   He will be pleased to discuss your detailed requirements , choice of media and provide you with a quotation.
